The two sides discussed on cross-strait relations, stability in the Taiwan Strait, and regional peace and security. Chair Cheng reiterated the KMT’s firm opposition to Taiwan independence and emphasized the importance of promoting dialogue and exchanges across the Taiwan Strait. Chair Cheng stressed that the KMT’s goal is to enable people to live better lives. She expressed hope for building a stable bridge that transcends war and hatred, replacing military confrontation with civilized dialogue, so that people may pursue their aspirations on the foundation of peace without having to pay the price of human lives. On international affairs, Chair Cheng noted that the United States plays a crucial role in maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and expressed hope that all sides will work to build mutual trust, reduce miscalculation, and advance regional peace.
